The Cincinnati Bengals have placed WR Terrell Owens on the Injured Reserve List ending his season due to left knee surgery.  Owens played in 14 games for the Bengals this year and he caught 72 passes for 983 yards (13.7 avg) with 9 TD grabs.  Bengals’ QBs targeted Owens 139 times this year and he was happy until a couple of weeks ago when the losing finally got to him.  He threw almost everyone in the organization under the bus so I don’t see him being welcomed back to the Bengals in 2011.

The Bengals have placed 23-year old cornerback Brandon Ghee on the Injured Reserve List with a groin injury.  Ghee played in 6 games for the Bengals this year and he had 9 tackles.  Ghee was a third round pick out of Wake Forest so the Bengals expected more out of him.  Maybe he will turn things around next year for the Bengals.

The Bengals have lost CB Morgan Trent for the rest of the season due to a knee injury.  Trent played in 8 games for the Bengals this year and he had 26 tackles, 3 passes defensed and 1 interception.  He has now played in 24 games in his first two years with the Bengals and he has 54 tackles, 7 passes defensed, 1 sack and 1 interception.  This will hurt the Bengals’ secondary depth the rest of the year.

The Cincinnati Bengals lose Mike Nugent for the year

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking Bengals News,Front Page,General Bengals Talk,Injury Reports by admin on Monday 15 November 2010 at 3:20 pm

The Bengals have lost 28-year old kicker Mike Nugent for the season due to a torn ACL and a sprained MCL.  Nugent played in all 9 games for the Bengals this year and he connected on 15 of 19 field goals (78.9%) and 17 of 17 extra points, good for 62 points.  The Bengals will sign someone to replace Nugent this week likely going with a veteran.

UPDATE:  (11/16/2010) – The Bengals have signed undrafted free agent kicker Aaron Pettrey to replace Nugent.  Pettrey played his college ball at Ohio State just like Nugent.

The Bengals have lost 23-year old right tackle Andre Smith for the rest of the year after he broke a bone in his left foot yesterday.  Smith will miss the next 6-8 months as he will need surgery to repair his foot injury.  Smith played in 7 games (4 starts) for the Bengals this year and he has played in 13 games (5 starts) in his first two years in the NBA.  He is starting to look like a first round bust for the Bengals.

The Cincinnati Bengals lose Adam Jones for the rest of the season

The Bengals have lost 27-year old cornerback Adam “Pac Man” Jones for the rest of the year due to a neck injury.  Jones played in 5 games for the Bengals this year and he had 14 tackles, 3 passes defensed, a forced fumble that he returned for a 59-yard TD and 1 interception.  Jones also returned 5 punts for 33 yards (6.6 avg) and he also returned 7 kickoffs for 134 yards (19.1 avg).  This a a shame for both the Bengals & Jones because he appeared to have his act together.

The Cincinnati Bengals lose Antwan Odom for a while

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking Bengals News,Front Page,General Bengals Talk,Injury Reports by admin on Friday 15 October 2010 at 1:43 pm

The NFL has suspended 29-year old DE Antwan Odom for the next 4 weeks due to a violation of the league’s substance abuse policy.  Odom was going to have to miss 2-3 weeks with a knee injury anyhow so the suspension comes at a perfect time for both Odom and the Bengals.  Odom has played in 4 games for the Bengals this year and he has 4 tackles and 1 pass defensed.  In his first two years with the Bengals, Odom played in 18 games in which he had 45 tackles, 4 passes defensed, 11 sacks and 2 forced fumbles.  The Bengals hope the rest will due Odom some good so he can come back as the player he was in 2008 and 2009 for them.
