The Cincinnati Bengals place DE Antwan Odom on I.R.

Blogged under Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Bengals Talk,Injury Reports by admin on Thursday 2 December 2010 at 9:59 pm

The Bengals have placed 29-year old DE Antwan Odom on the I.R. list ending his season due to a wrist injury.  Odom played in only 4 games for the Bengals this season and he had 4 tackles and 1 pass defensed.  Odom has now played in 22 games in his first three years with the Bengals and he has 49 tackles, 5 passes defensed, 11 sacks and 2 forced fumbles.  Odom just can’t seem to stay healthy.  The Bengals have re-signed 27-year old DE Victor Adeyanju to replace Odom on the roster.

The Cincinnati Bengals waive Aaron Pettrey

Blogged under Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Bengals Talk,Leaving Town by admin on Wednesday 1 December 2010 at 12:08 am

The Bengals have waived 24-year old kicker Aaron Pettrey.  Pettrey played in 2 games for the Bengals this year and he connected on 2 of 4 field goals and 5 of 5 extra points good for 11 points.  The Bengals have signed 25-year old kicker Clint Stitser to replace Pettrey and I have a feeling he won’t be the last kicker the Bengals employ this year.  He didn’t last too long with the Jets this pre-season and the Bengals can’t afford to be leaving points on the field.

The Cincinnati Bengals ink two cornerbacks

Blogged under Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Bengals Talk by admin on Thursday 25 November 2010 at 3:35 pm

The Bengals have signed 26-year old CB Jonathan Wade and 26-year old CB Fred Bennett.  Wade played in 8 games for the Lions earlier this year and he had 30 tackles and 3 passes defensed.  He has now played in 55 games in his first four years in the NFL and he has 97 tackles, 10 passes defensed and 2 interceptions.  Bennett played in 4 games earlier this year for the Chargers and he made 1 tackle.  Bennett has now played in 44 games in his first four years in the NFL and he has 124 tackles, 21 passes defensed, 4 forced fumbles and 5 interceptions.  Wade might start tonight against the Jets and Bennett will also like get in on the action.

The Cincinnati Bengals sign DE Victor Adeyanju

Blogged under Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Bengals Talk by admin on Friday 19 November 2010 at 10:08 am

The Bengals have signed 27-year old DE Victor Adeyanju.  Adeyanju played in 10 games for the Rams last season and he had 7 tackles.  He has now played in 53 games in his first four years in the NFL and he has 117 tackles, 2 passes defensed and 3 sacks.  The Bengals hope that Adeyanju will help them with the pass rush as the Bengals only have 1 player with more than 1 sack (Chris Crocker-2) and he’s a safety.

UPDATE:  (11/25/2010) – The Bengals have released Victor Adeyanju after he spent only one week on the team.  He didn’t get into last week’s game against the Bills.

The Bengals have signed 31-year old OT Kirk Chambers.  Chambers played in 14 games (9 starts) for the Bills last season and he has now played in 67 games (14 starts) in his five years in the NFL.  Chambers might work his way into the starting lineup on the right side as early as this weekend against his old team (the Bills).

The Cincinnati Bengals sign J.P. Foschi

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking Bengals News,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Bengals Talk by admin on Thursday 28 October 2010 at 8:02 pm

The Bengals have signed 28-year old TE J.P. Foschi.  Foschi played in 15 games for the Bengals last season and he caught 27 passes for 260 yards (9.6 avg) with 2 TD grabs.  He has now played in 25 games in his first two years in the NFL and he has caught 33 passes for 297 yards (9.0 avg) with 2 TD grabs.  Foschi will back up Jermaine Gresham for the rest of the year and he will likely play in 2 TE sets if the Bengals ever decide to use one.

UPDATE:  (11/9/2010) – The Bengals have waived J.P. Foschi.  Foschi played in 2 games for the Bengals but he didn’t catch any passes.  The Bengals have signed Chase Coffman off the practice squad to replace Foschi on the active roster.  Coffman was a 3rd round pick of the Bengals in 2009 but he has yet to play in a regular season game.

The Cincinnati Bengals bring back Marvin White

Blogged under Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Bengals Talk by admin on Tuesday 24 August 2010 at 9:55 pm

The Bengals have signed 26-year old safety Marvin White.  White played in 13 games (6 starts) for the Cowboys & Lions last season and he had 53 tackles and six passes defensed.  He has played in 40 games (19 starts) in his three years in the NFL and he has made 141 tackles, defensed 14 passes and he has 1 interception.  White spent his first two years in the NFL with the Bengals so they know what they have in him.

The Cincinnati Bengals sign Terrell Owens

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking Bengals News,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Bengals Talk by admin on Wednesday 28 July 2010 at 3:35 pm

The Bengals have signed 36-year old WR Terrell Owens to a 1-year, $2 million dollar deal with another possible $2 million in incentives.  Owens played in 16 games (all starts) for the Bills last season and he caught 55 passes for 829 yards (15.1 avg) with 5 TD grabs.  He also carried the ball 6 times for 54 yards (9.0 ypc) with 1 TD run last year.  Owens has now played in 205 games (190 starts) in his NFL career and he has caught 1,006 passes for 14,951 yards (14.9 avg) with 144 TD grabs.  He also has carried the ball 39 times for 251 yards (6.4 ypc) with 3 TD grabs.  T.O. has been to six Pro Bowls in his NFL career.  I really like this signing for the Bengals as Owens was on his best behavior in Buffalo last season and he showed he still has something left in the gas tank.

The Cincinnati Bengals sign safety Gibril Wilson

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking Bengals News,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Bengals Talk by admin on Friday 7 May 2010 at 8:26 am

The Bengals have signed 28-year old safety Gibril Wilson.  Wilson played in all 16 games for the Dolphins last season and he had 93 tackles, he defensed 8 passes and he had 1 sack.  Wilson has now played in 84 games in his NFL career and he has 585 tackles, he has defensed 38 passes, has 8.5 sacks, he has forced 7 fumbles and he has 13 interceptions.  This, unlike the PacMan Jones signing, was a very solid move for the Bengals as Wilson could work his way into a starting job for them in 2010.

The Cincinnati Bengals sign CB/PR/KR Adam “Pac Man” Jones

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking Bengals News,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Bengals Talk by admin on Friday 7 May 2010 at 8:23 am

The Bengals have signed 26-year old CB/PR/KR Adam “Pac Man” Jones to a 2-year contract for the veterans minimum with incentive bonuses.  Jones last played in 2008 with the Cowboys.  He has played in 39 games in his NFL career in which he made 147 tackles, he defensed 29 passes, had 1 sack, forced 2 fumbles and he had 4 interceptions (1 returned for a TD).  Jones also has returned 84 punts for 807 yards (9.6 avg) with 4 TD returns and 70 kickoffs for 1,803 yards (25.8 avg).  While Jones is a talented football player it should come as no surprise that he wound up in Cincinnati which is like the halfway house of the NFL.
