Hot finish likely saved Marvin Lewis’ job with the Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals finished 7-9 and finished in 3rd place in the AFC North which was a huge disappointment for the team.  Much of the blame has fallen on head coach Marvin Lewis, fair or not.  Too many thug like players are on the Bengals and they might need a new start like the Vikings started a couple of seasons ago when they rid themselves of the bad apples.  Marvin Lewis better win next season or he will likely be out of a job.  He has been the head coach of the Bengals for five seasons now and he has compiled a 42-38 (.525 %) record during the regular season and he’s 0-1 in the post season.

Carson Palmer was inconsistent for the Cincinnati Bengals this year

The Bengals expected a little bit more out of Carson Palmer than what they got.  Palmer played in all 16 games last season for the Bengals and he completed 373 of 575 passes (64.9%) for 4,131 yards with 26 TD passes and 20 interceptions (86.7 QB Rating).  He also carried the football 24 times for 10 yards (0.4 ypc) this season.  Palmer has now played in 61 games in his NFL career and he has completed 1,305 of 2,036 passes (64.1%) for 14,899 yards with 104 TD passes and 63 interceptions (90.1 QB Rating).  He also has carried the football 102 times for 135 yards (1.3 ypc) with 2 TD runs.
